ICBC Claims

My objective is to get you the compensation you deserve. ICBC has a huge advantage over the average citizen who gets in an accident — adjusters and the lawyers who know the "range of settlement".

You are unlikely to be familiar with this range. ICBC’s adjusters and lawyers will act in the best interests of ICBC. At Andrew Croll Law Corporation we also know the range of settlement and will act in your best interest.

I will not charge you any fees or out-of-pocket expenses until the end of the case. If you are not successful, no fees will be charged. Fees are based on a percentage of the damages recovered.

Residential School Claims

I spent 10 years at Crown Counsel and was the Designated Sexual Assault Specialist. With specialized training and know-how in dealing with adults who were abused as children, I recognize the common signs of abuse including lack of trust, suicidal thoughts, alcoholism, drug abuse, chronic unemployment and depression.

I initiated my first Residential School claim in 1995 by suing the United Church and the Government of Canada for a client who attended the Alberni Indian Residential School. That case and others since have been succesfully settled.

A good listener, sensitive to your needs, I would be happy to assist you with the current Independent Assessment Process.

Family Law, Divorce

Divorce is one of the most difficult events in life for a man or woman. Emotions can run high, particularly in disputes involving children. We are not interested in confrontation or attacking the "other party". We wish to resolve disputes with the least amount of emotional upset possible using techniques such as collaborative law, mediation, judicial case conferences and negotiation.

Estate Disputes

Estate disputes have much in common with divorces. They involve family. The people you know and likely love are suddenly on the other side of the dispute over Mom’s will, or Dad’s power-of-attorney. As we do for divorce, we attempt to solve these disputes in a civilized way to keep the emotional upset to a minimum.

Court is the last option, not the first.

Wills and Estates

A will is a very important document and can be prepared for a relatively modest cost. The cost of preparing a will can be small compared to the cost of dying without a will.

We try to create "plain language" wills, documents you can read and understand that are not full of Latin. Wills are often accompanied by powers of attorney, representation agreements or healthcare directives. When a spouse or a loved one dies, there are often legal matters to be dealt with even though your grief and sense of loss are front and center.

We can assist you to obtain probate, advertise for creditors, file tax returns, etc. All of us at the firm have experienced the loss of loved ones and would be happy to guide you through this difficult time.

Fees

Most of our work is done on an hourly basis. Andrew Croll's rate is $325 per hour, plus HST.

In addition, we charge for out-of-pocket expenses such as medical reports, photocopying etc. and are required to charge you HST on taxable disbursements.

For ICBC cases, we charge a percentage fee between 25%–30% on any damages recovered plus taxes and out-of-pocket expenses. No fees are charged until the end of the case.

For Indian Residental School Claims we charge a percentage fee based on the guidlilnes below on any awards/settlements received plus HST and out-of-pocket expenses. No fees are charged until the end of the case.
